Shore, Game, and Deep Sea angling are all available on the Dingle Peninsula.
For those interested in game angling, Lough Caum in Glannteenassig Forest near Castlegregory is a beautiful place. The lake boasts a large stock of wild brown trout and is stocked with rainbow trout. The shore is almost entirely fishable. Permits are required and boats are available. The Owenmore River is also good for game fishing, with permits available in Cloghane. Permits are available at Keane's Supermarket, Tralee Road, Castlegregory; at Bowler's Bar, Castlegregory Village; and at Fitzgerald's Shop, Castlegregory Village. Miles of famous storm beaches with crashing surfs for the sportsman after bass and painted rays, quiet beaches and estuaries offering skate, flounder and plaice; and piers and deepwater rock marks containing a variety of species including pollock, wrasse and conger eels. The Dingle Peninsula has it all, enough marks and fish to suit everyone's tastes and at any time of the year.

Deep Sea AnglingThere are boats offering Deep Sea Angling in Dingle, Ballydavid and Brandon. The prolific waters of the peninsula provide the sea angler with an abundance of species, including pollack, garfish, blue shark, tope, dogfish, and rare Mediterranean species brought in by the Gulf Stream. Deep sea fishing trips are available by the week or by the day, as well as two-hour trips and evening trips. Some places supply all the necessary gear, tackle and bait, and welcome children. |
