South Pole Inn was so named by Antarctic explorer Tom Crean. Crean,
who accompanied Scott and Shackleton on their expeditions, retired to his home village of
Annascaul in 1920 and opened the inn.The bar contains mementos of Crean's adventures and is a popular place to eat and drink for visitors and locals alike. The inn takes full advantage of its riverside setting with outdoor seating and a child-friendly environment. |
