Rail and Bus Services to the Dingle Peninsula

In order to reach the Dingle Peninsula by public transport it is necessary to travel to Tralee, the largest town and administrative centre of County Kerry. Tralee is about 31 miles/50 kilometres from Dingle town. Rail services operated by Iarnród Éireann and long distance Expressway bus services operated by Bus Éireann both terminate at Tralee Station, from where a local bus service runs to Dingle.

Train and rail service 

Iarnród Éireann - Irish Rail provides passenger rail services across Ireland. Killarney, Farranfore and Tralee are the nearest train stations to the Dingle Peninsula. Trains from Dublin and Cork run every 2 hrs 7 days a week and connect to the greater rail network. The journey time to Tralee from Dublin is 4hrs approx and from Cork 2 1/2 hrs approx.Train timetables and further information can be found on the Irish Rail Website with travel planner and online ticket sales.

Transport Connections from train to Dingle Peninsula

Bus Eireann connections to Dingle go from outside Tralee Rail Station and the journey time is 1 hr. There are 10 buses per day. See timetable on Bus Eireann Website

National Bus service

The Bus Éireann network of bus routes connect the main cities, airports and ferry ports in Ireland to Tralee Bus Station. At Tralee you connect with Bus Eireann local service - route 275 to Dingle Town.

A private bus company Dublin Coach runs a daily 24 hr bus service from Dublin and Dublin Airport to Tralee via Limerick. For more information see Dublin Coach M7 Service

Local Bus service

Bus Eireann route 275  runs daily between Tralee Bus Station and Dingle Town. There are 10 buses per day in both direction, departing approxiametely every 2 hours. There are stops at Blennerville, Camp, Annascaul and Lispole. 

Route 273 runs one day per week between Tralee Bus Station and Cloghane. There are 2 buses on Friday in both directions. There are stops at Blennerville, Camp, Aughacasla, Castlegregory

A new App for travelling on Bus Éireann services within Kerry is now available to download so no need for a Leap Card, just buy your single ticket or 10 journey ticket (which is now valid for 28days) on your mobile Phone. This is valid for Adult and Students only… A child will still have to buy a Leap Card.

The Local Link service provides a rural bus service from Dingle town to areas around the Peninsula daily. 

Route 277: Dingle/Daingean Uí Chúis - Ventry/Fionn Trá - Ballyferriter/Baile an Fheirtéaraigh - Dunquin/Dún Chaoin (Monday to Sunday)

Route 73: Dingle/Daingean Uí Chúis - Gallarus/Gallaras - Murreagh/An Mhuiríoch - Feohanagh/An Fheothanach - Ballydavid/Baile na nGall

Route 74: Dingle/Daingean Uí Chúis - Lispole/Lios Póil (Mondays & Wednesdays)

Route 57: Annascaul - Camp - Derrymore (Fridays)

Route 49: Brandon Point - Cloghane - Castlegregory - Camp - Derrymore - Tralee 

Route 13: Inch - Castlemaine - Tralee (Mondays)

Route 59a: Derrymore - Curraheen - Clahane - Tralee
