We are the longest established ferry company operating trips to An Blascaod Mór/Great Blasket Island and have many years' experience in the tourism industry.
We are a local family run business from Dún Chaoin and we operate a 12 passenger ferry the Lady Avalon. Our crew have over 40 years experience navigating the waters around the Blaskets and passenger safety is our priority.
Relax and soak in the breathtaking views of the most westerly lands in Europe, whilst listening to the calls of the huge number of breeding seabirds on the island, such as fulmars, guillemots, storm petrels and shearwaters. The island beach 'An Trá Bán' is home to the largest Grey Seal colony in Ireland.

It takes 20 minutes approx for the crossing and visitors get to enjoy 4 hours on the island to walk/hike, take photographs or just relax and soak in the stunning views.
The O.P.W. Offer free guided walking tours around the island village from 11:30am, every hour. A great way to learn about the Islanders way of life long ago, we highly recommend this walking tour!
Minimum age requirement is 7 years of age for our ferry and as passenger safety is the highest priority, we must stress that the trip is not suitable for those with any mobility issues (especially knee and hip), any heart issues or recent surgeries. There is a transfer by ladder from main boat to 8 passenger rib to access the shallower waters of the small island slipway (all boats doing landing trips do this process, as the main boats are unable to access the slipway directly.) The island terrain can be uneven and steep in places and cliff edges are unprotected. There is a 'Leave no Trace' policy with the island and boat.
